Jess is a writer, director, artist and producer living on Ngarigu and Ngunnawal country in the ACT. Her performing arts practice blends poetry, music, acting and languages. She wrote, produced and directed upcoming Australian / French language film Animal starring Karen Vickery, Isabelle Faure and Michael Sparks. Jess is developing original screen projects through Taliesin Pictures, pitched to be made locally. Passionate about social justice and inclusive, accessible practices, she’s a workshop leader with Bus Stop Films in Canberra and founded Set Ready Film. Her directing approach is grounded in years of live, news and factual content creation as a broadcast journalist, presenter and producer, seeking to capture the essence of the living moment through truthful storytelling. Her writing explores the ancient and the new, using mythic narrative structure, guided by the bardic lore of her ancestors in her approach to modern or futuristic stories. Jess ‘grew up’ through theatre and is excited to be in the Greek Chorus of Greek Theatre Now’s first production of Antigone. IG: @jessbeange @animalfilmaus
