“Acting has pretty much been my favourite thing since I was 7 and put on a made-up play for my class. There was not much of a story. The characters were just my friends and I being silly. But the audience laughed and that was what mattered.
“That has always been my favourite part of performing, getting an audience invested and then making them feel something.
“Throughout high school and college I was in numerous performances. In 2018 I co-wrote and starred in an anti-suicide play called Pearl City as part of the Act-Up! festival at Canberra Theatre Centre.
“I also starred in a 2020 production of Michael Gow’s Away in which I played Roy, a man struggling with the death of his son. He bottles up his emotions until they come out in a horrible rage against his wife, Pearl. Playing this character was incredibly challenging due to the way Roy treats Pearl, but it was rewarding too because it pushed me far outside my comfort zone.
“I’ve spent time away from acting in an attempt to broaden my understanding of people but am ready to return in Sophocles’ Oedipus the King at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. I couldn’t be more excited about the cast and crew I’m working with. I know we’re going to put on a great show. I hope to see you there!”
