Marcus Mele is a champion body builder. He is a manager at Club Lime gym in Canberra. This is his first acting role (Guard).
He was interested in physical fitness, dance and photography at school and went on to gain his personal trainer qualifications.
He began competing in body building championships in 2020-21. He is the current ACT Champion – Natural Physique in a number of divisions, including the Men’s Open. He is looking forward to competing in national and global championships.
“I always like challenging myself and experiencing new things,” he said.
“I’m excited about being in the play. I’m used to performing on stage in competitions but not as an actor in a play. I like trying new things.
“It’s great working with the cast and meeting new people.”
Producer Michael J Smith said: “The ancient Greeks celebrated the physical form, including in the plays. The actors trained in the gym with the soldiers and athletes to music and rhythm. It’s great to have Marcus in the show. The plays inspired citizens to be better people and make the most of their body.”
