“I’m Imelda, a 14-year-old performer from Western Australia. I’ve always loved the magic of being on stage and the opportunity to step into someone else’s world for a little while.
“I’m a member of Western Australia Youth Theatre Company and have performed in a range of productions, most recently as the Acrobat in Matilda Jr. Other favourite experiences include being cast in Cursed – The Pantomime, Assassins and Cinderella Youth Edition.
“Outside of theatre, I’m an equestrian vaulter with Stella Vaulting Academy and the International Vaulting Circuit Australia. Vaulting combines acrobatics, dance and performance on horseback, so performing is a big part of something I love doing in a completely different way. It has also taught me the importance of trust, teamwork, commitment and connecting with an audience.
“I’m excited to be part of Greek Theatre Now’s production of Sophocles’ Oedipus the King. Greek tragedy is very different from the shows I’ve performed in before, and I’ve loved discovering the intensity, history and storytelling style of this ancient work.
“I’m looking forward to bringing this powerful story to the stage and continuing to grow as a performer through this wonderful opportunity.”
