Alastair McKenzie

Alastair is delighted to debut in his first professional theatre performance alongside some of Canberra’s greatest creators and performers. Prior to Antigone, Alastair performed in various Year 12 stage productions in 2024, including A Streetcar Named Desire, where he played Stanley Kowalski, and The Tempest, where he played both Antonio and Prospero. He received the top mark for his performances in these shows. At the end of Year 12 he received the Helen Nield Drama Award for excellence in performance and dedication to all productions. After his first ever performance last year, the class moderators praised his work, saying: “If this is truly his first performance then it is one he should be proud of.” Even his dad said he “wasn’t that bad”. Alastair’s very short time lived on this planet means he has very little to say about himself. So, instead, he would love to take this opportunity to thank and praise his co-performers, who are very talented and brilliant, director Cate Clelland and producer Michael J Smith. He also wishes to acknowledge the amazing contributions of Lachlan Ruffy, Tania Jobson, Elizabeth Minchin and Carl Davies behind the scenes.
